DANA PETROLEUM PLC
("DANA", "THE COMPANY", OR "THE GROUP")
DANA PRE-QUALIFIES AS OPERATOR IN NORWAY
Dana Petroleum is pleased to announce that the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy has pre-qualified Dana’s wholly owned subsidiary, Dana Petroleum Norway AS (“Dana Norway”), as an Operator on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (“NCS”).
Dana Norway is headquartered in Oslo and performs all the Group’s activities on the NCS. This includes oil production from the Jotun Field and exploration activities across the NCS, where it currently holds six licence interests. In late 2007, Dana Norway made two oil discoveries at Storskrymten with its first exploration well offshore Norway. Its second exploration well is currently being drilled, targeting the Bjorn prospect, and results from this well are expected during February 2008.
The Dana Petroleum group is now producing oil and gas from a total of 30 fields, spanning the UK, Egypt, Norway and the Netherlands. Dana is actively exploring for new oil and gas reserves in each of these countries and expects to drill a total of 17 exploration wells worldwide in 2008. In addition, the Group has exploration programmes underway in other African countries including Mauritania, Senegal and Morocco. Dana is also the largest shareholder in the independent oil company Faroe Petroleum plc, which is exploring offshore Norway, the UK, the Faroes and the Netherlands.
