CAVENDISH GAS FIELD BEGINS PRODUCTION

Dana Petroleum is pleased to announce that production has successfully commenced from the Cavendish gas field, located in the UK Southern Gas Basin in Block 43/19a, in which Dana holds a 50% working interest. The expected initial production rate from the first well is approximately 60 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (mmscfpd). Second and third wells are currently being drilled and are expected to come on stream before the end of the year.

The Cavendish field was discovered in 1989 and development sanction was granted in 2005. The development consists of a 6-slot minimum facilities fixed platform which is tied back to the Murdoch platform, part of the Caister Murdoch System operated by ConocoPhillips, via 47 kms of newly laid pipeline. Gas is then transported onward to the Theddlethorpe Gas Terminal in the UK.

Commenting on the news, Tom Cross, Chief Executive said:

"Cavendish will add significantly to Dana's overall production. Following the recent start-up of the Enoch oil field, this now brings the Company's total number of producing fields in the North Sea to 15. The successful developments of both Cavendish and Enoch are important growth steps for Dana. Production will be further enhanced in the near future with completion of the ongoing acquisitions of Devon Energy's E&P assets in Egypt and Ener Petroleum in Norway."
