Dana Petroleum Norway AS (DPN) is an upstream oil and gas company focused solely on the Norwegian Continental shelf. The company was established as an independent company in 2005 under the name Ener Petroleum AS and was acquired by Dana in 2007. In 2006 the company acquired a 45% interest in the Jotun field from Shell and has since through APA and ordinary licensing rounds, farm-ins and swaps built a considerable portfolio of some 25 exploration licenses in the North Sea and Norwegian Sea. DPN has a small, highly experienced technical and commercial team in Lilleaker, Oslo.
Dana Petroleum Norway has interests in a total of 22 exploration and production licenses in the North and Norwegian Sea, of which Dana is the operator of 3.
DPN produces circa. 1800 barrels of oil per day from its interest in the ExxonMobil operated Jotun field in the North Sea. Dana has a 10% interest in the Statoil operated Fulla gas/condensate discovery and a 20-25% share in the Jette discovery which are both being evaluated for development.
Exploration activities include 4 firm wells to be drilled in late 2011 – 2012 period. On the existing exploration portfolio, several drill-or-drop decisions will be taken this autumn and in 2012. DPN is active in exploration rounds; the annual round (mature areas), having its first application deadline in September 2011 and the semi-annual round (immature and frontier areas) in autumn 2012.
