Job Description

The Commercial Function is responsible for providing commercial support and expertise to the group which spans Dana’s Exploration, Development, Producing Asset and Decommissioning activities, across both operated and non-operated assets

The Commercial Assistant is one of a team of two reporting to the Commercial Manager and is jointly responsible for supporting and delivering commercial assurance across Dana under the direction of the Commercial Manager.

The Commercial Assistant will work closely with the UK Joint Venture Managers and the Legal team, supporting sign off on commercial agreements.

Role and responsibilities

  • Apply business acumen and financial knowledge to support commercial activity across Dana’s portfolio;
  • Interact proactively with the Joint Venture Team, in order to identify appropriate commercial resource deployment and support;
  • Take a supporting role in material and complex negotiations/disputes and in identifying sources of value throughout Dana’s commercial operations; 
  • Develop a central role during all phases of creation, review and negotiation of Dana commercial agreements;
  • Support the Joint Venture team through busy periods and taking on Joint Venture Management responsibilities where necessary;
  • Support business development opportunities on an ad hoc basis;
  • Ensure that Senior Management are briefed/fully informed on commercial issues and options;
  • Work alongside the JV Managers to identify areas of risk exposure in Dana’s existing commercial agreements, and where appropriate, highlight to management, along with potential mitigations

 

Requirements and skills

General Background:

  • Degree qualified in Finance or related subject;
  • Relevant commercial or business analyst experience;
  • Proven oil and gas experience ideally gained in an operating environment and across a range of functions including operations, commercial, business and project management. 

 

Specific Experience:

  • Knowledge of commercial architecture, commercial best practice, regulatory and licence requirements and a solid level of experience in the upstream oil & gas sector;
  • Demonstrates knowledge of JV agreements
  • Demonstrates a solid track record in an advisory role within a related discipline;
  • Experience of participating in negotiations in the oil and gas sector;
  • Knowledge of Decommissioning principles and business models (valuations, securities, sureties, planning etc) and associated commercial agreements.

Finance Assistant - Contract (6-9 months)

Position

Job Description

Provide Assistance for the accounting, cost control, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting in relation to a portfolio of non-operated assets & Assist with Accounts Payable. 

Role and responsibilities

  • Booking and tracking of All non-operated JV billings
  • Following up on non-operated queries through the month.
  • Analysis of non-operated assets - opex/capex/forecast/ to identify trends and queries for review with the Non-Op Asset Accountant.
  • Responsibility for exploration assets – operated and non-operated.  Internal AFE preparation for non-operated assets.
  • Preparation of oil, gas & NGL’s sales invoices, updating oil & gas price differentials and issuing after UK Financial Controller review.
  • AP Assistance–to cover for few suppliers on monthly regular basis so can be ready at any point to cover for other AP team members when needed.
  • Prepare and issue ad hoc report.

 

Qualifications and skills

  • Finance & Accounting/Business or similar Degree
  • Team player able to converse confidently with employees of all levels.
  • Excellent numeracy and analytical skills
  • Experience of Microsoft  products and in particular excel
  • Good communication skills  both written and verbal
  • The ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines
  • Some oil industry experience preferred but not essential

Triton Area Asset Accountant

Role and responsibilities

  • Preparation of UK annual budget & 5 year plan for Triton Area.
  • Provide support to JV manager and budget holders
  • Assist JV manager and budget holders with the preparation of JV partner budgets
  • Oversee and assist  with monthly VOWD 
  • Produce monthly re-forecasts for corporate planning purposes. 
  • Prepare and issue monthly billings and recharge invoices
  • Key Business Partner able to embed and add value into the business. 
  • FINCOM rep for Triton and attend Bittern partner meetings to provide finance support to JV manager. 
  • Liaise and assist with operated and Non operated audits. 
  • Finance representative for Partner Committee Meetings (FinComs / OpComs)
  • Present financials at monthly operated performance meeting. 
  • Provide support with Adhoc requests from KNOC.

Qualifications and skills

  • Ideally Qualified accountant or evidentially working towards qualification, CIMA, CA or ACCA
  • Demonstrable finance experience in the upstream oil and gas industry with exposure to producing assets, exploration activity and operated/non operated activity.
  • Understanding of Joint Operating Agreements and vendor contracts.
  • SUN experience preferred but not essential & advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills.
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and meet tight deadlines.
  • Results oriented with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Flexibility in terms of covering for colleagues for short term periods.
  • Strong confident character able to influence others.
  • General technical understanding of offshore operations.
  • The ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines
