Commercial Manager

Job Description

The Commercial Function is responsible for providing commercial support and expertise to the group which spans Dana’s Exploration, Development, Producing Asset and Decommissioning activities, across both operated and non-operated assets.

Role and responsibilities

  • Apply extensive commercial experience in order to provide guidance and insight on commercial issues across the portfolio;
  • Take a leading role in material and complex negotiations/disputes and in identifying sources of value throughout Dana’s commercial operations;
  • Ensure that Senior Management are briefed/fully informed on commercial issues and options;
  • Working alongside JV Managers:
    • identify and mature potential commercial value adding opportunities; and
    • identify areas of risk exposure in Dana’s existing commercial agreements, and where appropriate, highlight to management, along with potential mitigations;
  • In conjunction with Developments Manager accountable for delivery of pre development and development assets within the portfolio.  Would include performing joint venture manager responsibilities for those assets;
  • Play key role in the development of asset strategies;
  • Proactively identify business development leads/ opportunities for consideration by the Portfolio Manager and support this work as required;
  • Participate in external commercial forums as Dana’s representative;
  • Build and maintain extensive external networks with peers/ stakeholders and competitors.

Competence requirements and skills

  • Relevant Degree and Technical Education covering oil and gas E&P
  • Proven commercial negotiation, influencing and communication skills
  • Proven oil and gas experience ideally gained in an operating environment and across a broad
  • range of functions (preferably including operations, commercial, business, mergers and acquisitions, and project management);
  • Knowledge of commercial architecture, commercial best practice, regulatory and licence requirements and a significant level of experience in the upstream oil & gas sector;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Ability to determine the bigger picture amongst conflicting priorities and issues, set priorities, and make tough decision
  • Relevant experience in a leadership and managerial role;
  • Results-oriented, articulate, persuasive and rigorous;
  • Able to gain the confidence of partners and Executive management team with excellent relationship building and management skills;
  • Demonstrable industry networks with Peers from other Operators and stakeholders
