Aberdeen headquartered oil and gas company Dana Petroleum has made a £5,500 donation to local charity and social enterprise Aberdeen Foyer.

The money was raised through a charity raffle by employees at the annual New Year dinner dance. Established in 1995, the Foyer provides supported accommodation to young people who are homeless or at risk, alongside a range of education, training, mentoring, counselling, employment support and health improvement services. Dana’s donation will be put towards Foyer Works, a property maintenance enterprise providing employability and training opportunities for young adults.

Paul Griffin, UK Managing Director, said: “Aberdeen Foyer was chosen as our charity of choice for this year’s event due to the fantastic work they do locally.  Dana firmly believes in supporting the communities we work in through education, employment and enterprise to build a sustainable future. We are delighted to support a charity with the same values.”

Leona McDermid, executive director at the Foyer, said, "We are very pleased to receive this generous donation from Dana. ‘On the job’ training in the supportive, commercial environment of Foyer Works has proved to be a successful route into sustainable employment for many young people. It’s great to continue our longstanding relationship with Dana who are helping us to support individuals to find their talents, improve skills and build confidence to make positive changes in their lives."
