Job Summary
This position is to provide engineering support to company operations in the areas of Field Development Plans, Reserves Estimates, Annual Production Budget, Reservoir Characterization & Reservoir Studies. The reservoir engineer should ensure that his work is fully integrated with other petroleum engineering & geology functions and aligned with company`s goals and objectives.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Annual Budgeting and Reserves Booking
- Provide the production forecast for the annual budget planning
- Reserves/ Resources estimation & reporting.
- Advise on drilling and completion strategies, and future well interventions during annual budget planning.
- Prepare of monthly/annual field performance review with updates on production, rig and rigless activities, surveillance and well integrity.
- Preparing the required documentations and full justifications for technical and shareholder approvals to implement planned activities.
- Adhere to all company policies and act as a role model in the adherence to policies.
- Undertake special projects and fulfil other duties as may reasonably be required by the company in line with the incumbent’s skills, knowledge, abilities and personal development opportunities
- Act in a professional manner at all times as is consistent with the aims and values of the company
- Provide out of hours support as appropriate
Reservoir Management
- Monitor & Analyse regularly static & flowing reservoir pressure and temperature.
- Analysis of well production data to validate contribution per individual reservoir unit and properly allocate them in the database
- Update production and pressure database.
- Issue recommendations to acquire data useful to optimize production, pressure/production monitoring, update well and reservoir models.
- Issue surveillance plan with candidate interventions or workovers for well / field production optimization.
- Assess reservoir driving mechanism from production/pressure performance
- Gather and validate reservoir data, including production, pressures, in place volumes, nodal analysis, future wells data, surface facilities constrain, etc in order to prepare /update the short-term production forecast
Reservoir Characterization:
- Conduct, design & analyse Pressure Transient Tests
- Determine fluid properties using B.H. and surface sample analysis and best-fit PVT correlations
- Find porosity and horizontal/vertical permeability distribution using logs, cores & well tests.
- Monitor & Analyse regularly static & flowing reservoir pressure and temperature
- Determine the reservoir compartmentalization
- Assess & support the subsurface mapping
- Estimate reservoir OOIP & Reserves from performance data (pressure/production/material balance)
- Issue recommendations to acquire data useful to optimize production, pressure/production monitoring, update well and reservoir models.
Reservoir Studies:
- Reservoir Simulation/Conventional Studies on producing reservoirs and prospects:
- Identify infill drilling,
- Assess by-passed hydrocarbons.
- Evaluate and recommend re-completions
- Assess & evaluate coning potential and recommend strategy to restrain conning
- Evaluate and recommend secondary recovery methods and/or pressure maintenance programs
- Evaluate prospects by estimating potential volumes in place & reserves and by identifying & sensitizing on the key risks.
- Support on the candidate selection, timing and planning of wells to be included in drilling schedule
